Els & Co Fine Leather
Online store, built by Lumanaire

Hand-made leather from Stellenbosch, in a store of its own.

We built the online store for Els & Co Fine Leather, who make full-grain leather goods by hand in Stellenbosch for hunting, shooting, fly fishing, travel and dogs. Shoppers browse the catalogue and ask for their initials on a piece, and the workshop system we built behind the store turns each order into a job on the bench.

The home page

The store opens on the workshop.

The home page starts with a film of Els & Co pieces outdoors, then tells the story in their own words: full-grain leather, cut and stitched by hand in Stellenbosch, and made to be bought once in a lifetime.

  • Leather and brass

Full-grain leather with solid brass hardware, and every edge burnished and finished by hand.

  • Made to order

A piece made to order goes into the workshop when it is bought, and its page says so before the cart.

  • The workshop, to see

A link from the story opens the workshop gallery: work in progress on the bench, and finished pieces before they go out.

Browse the shop

The whole catalogue, a button per category.

On 13 October 2026 the shop held 95 products in nine categories, from rifle slings and cartridge belts to fly rod tubes, dog collars and briefcases. Category buttons, a search box and filters take a shopper to the piece they want.

  • Nine categories

Rifle hunting and shooting, fly fishing, K9, outdoor, rifle and gun slings, safari furniture, shotgun shooting, travel, and wine, whisky and cigars.

  • Search by name or code

The search box takes a product’s name, its code or its collection.

  • Filters and sorting

A shopper can narrow the list, show only what is in stock, and sort by name or price.

  • Made for the phone

On a phone the categories scroll in one row and the filters fold away until tapped.

Make it yours

Initials, a monogram or a logo, embossed by hand.

Most pieces can carry the buyer’s initials, a monogram or their own logo, embossed by hand in the workshop before the piece goes out.

Personalisation, as the home page explains it.

Most pieces

Initials, a monogram or a logo can be embossed on most pieces in the catalogue.

In the notes box

The buyer writes the detail in the notes box when ordering, and the workshop sees it on the job card.

Said before the cart

The product page says that a personalised piece cannot be returned, before it goes in the cart.

After the order

Every order reaches the bench as a job.

Behind the store we built the workshop’s own system, so orders from the store reach its production board without being typed in again, as the old setup needed.

  • A card for every piece

Six belts make six job cards, and each card carries the order’s embossing note.

  • A craftsperson and a due date

Each piece is given to a craftsperson, and the time allowed follows from the work in it.

  • Cut, assembled, finished

The board follows each piece from the cut through to finished.

“Every piece is cut, stitched and finished on the bench by a named craftsperson. Nothing machine-produced, nothing outsourced.” Els & Co Fine Leather, on the home page of the store we built.
